Institute for Governance and Development (IGD) - a constituent of the Melmilap Alliance (MA) -
is a civil society organization working in the area of peace building, mediation and
reconciliation. IGD has, among others, has implementing the project titled - Strengthening
Access to Justice for Women and Marginalized Groups through Community Mediation
Program (A2J-WOMCOM) funded by Governance Facility (GF) in Tanahu and Chitwan districts
to enhance social harmony with improved state-citizen relationship.
The project contributes to enhance access to justice for women and the marginalized groups to
increase civic engagement at VDC/Municipal level; Increase collaboration among stakeholders
at national and local levels. The objectives of the activities during the quarter orient/consult
stakeholders at the local level and select mediators, enhance skills of mediation to resolve
disputes and to support to increase access to justice of the women marginalized communities
through resolution of the disputes at mediation sessions facilitate by the trained mediators in
the CM Centers at the local level.

Significance & Legacy

This project contributed directly to IGD's institutional knowledge base and helped establish long-term networks among local communities, civic leaders, and government stakeholders.
